I have always known I wanted to have my own business one day (it has always been something to do with fashion). Creating something of my own was never really a question, it was just finding the time and confidence to do it.

The name SOUR GRAPES came to me in 2021 during my uni placement year. I had a lot of spare time and sewing completely took over my life (is that sad, probably lol?). Somewhere in between projects, I decided I needed to make a start on creating my business name and logo. So that I did.

I didn’t just want it to be my name, I wanted it to be fun and to have something behind it. I came across The Fox and the Grapes fable. Basically, a fox tries to reach a bunch of grapes hanging just out of reach. He can’t get them, so he walks away saying, “They were probably sour anyway.”

And that stuck with me. SOUR GRAPES.

As humans we give up easily when something feels out of reach, push it away, because it was ‘unachievable’- we let the thought go sour ;)

(To be honest I have been doing that since 2021 HAHAHA but now is the time to get myself into gear and for SOUR GRAPES to shine).

SOUR GRAPES became a reminder:
Not to walk away just because it feels out of reach.
Not to give up on the dream.
To just flipping do it!!

Right now, you can expect SOUR GRAPES to be unique sewing patterns, designed so that you can adapt them, make them your own, learn new skills and FEEL FABULOUS! 

So, don't walk away from the grapes. So start that hobby, don’t dismiss those ideas and reach your goal!
